Family violence is an abuse of power in a family or other trusting relationship where people rely on each other. When someone experiences family violence, their well-being, security and survival are threatened. Family violence can happen to people of all ages, abilities, cultural and spiritual backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations. It can also affect pets and other animals. Victims of family violence may live together full-time or part-time, or they may live apart.

Contact the Family Violence Info Line – call, text, or chat online. Trained staff can help you get to safety and give you information on supports and financial aid.

Help is confidential. Phone support is available in more than 170 languages.

Community Links is a non-profit registered charity that serves the North Rocky View Region including Airdrie, Beiseker, Crossfield, Irricana, Balzac, Kathyrn and the surrounding areas in the County of North Rocky View. Community Links provides services and support across the lifespan from pregnancy and birth right up to seniors.

Family Violence Services

Since 2004, Community Links has focused on the prevention of family violence including strategies to stop violence and giving individuals the skills to develop respectful and healthy relationships throughout their lifetime for a strong and safe community. One-to one support as well as educational and support groups complete the wholistic wraparound service for safety, support, educational and emotional needs.

  • A highly trained and experienced Family Violence Counsellor is available.

  • Services are provided at no cost.

  • Navigational support is available for basic needs, referrals for additional support systems such as parenting, immigration, shelters, financial support, and court/law information.

  • Anger Awareness Groups are also available for both men and women.
